  Who We Are

Pinetown Girls’ High School is a public school for girls in Josiah Gumede Road, Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was founded in 1955 as Pinetown High School, a co-educational school, at its current site. On January 1 1978, it was split to form Pinetown Girls’ High School, which remained on the original premises, and Pinetown Boys’ High School, which is located at the site of Cowies Hill Junior High School.

  Our Vision

A well-educated, skilled and highly developed citizenry. At PGHS we have a diverse selection of subject choices in the FET phase. These include the Pure Sciences: Physical Sciences, Mathematics, and Life Sciences,  as well as a range of Humanities and Creative Arts: Geography, History, Dramatic Arts and Visual Arts.  Learners also have the option of choosing some of the more vocational subjects like Computer Applications Technology, Hospitality Studies or Tourism.  In the Commerce field, we currently offer Accounting and Business Studies and are planning to add Economics from 2021.The languages studied by our learners are English and Zulu (both at Home Language level) and Afrikaans First Additional Language.
