A very warm welcome to the staff and learners at PGHS. It is a brand new year and we at PGHS are looking forward to a year filled with success, joy and hope.
2020 was a difficult year for everyone, especially for the class of 2020. Through hard work, discipline and perseverance, our teachers and learners excelled in ensuring we were ready for the 2020 matric final examination. It is with honor and pride that we announce our matric pass rate of 98.4 %. Given the trials and tribulations faced in 2020, the class of 2020 can hold their heads up high and say “we made it”. Congratulations! We wish you well in your future endeavors and hope you keep the PGHS flag flying high.
It is with deep sadness that we have to inform the staff and learners, of the passing away of our very own, Nelisa Mqadi. A talented young soccer player who just completed her matric year, had succumbed to bacterial meningitis in January 2021. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. May her soul rest in peace.
With the New Year upon us, PGHS would like to welcome the following staff who have joined the PGHS family: Mr. Mynandu, Miss Kunz, Miss Meyiwa, Miss Makhaya and Miss Morrison. We hope your time at PGHS will be fruitful and enjoyable.
We are still facing a harsh pandemic. The safety of learners and staff is our top priority. At PGHS, we have Covid-19 regulations stated in our school code of conduct. All Covid-19 protocols must be adhered to at all times. At the moment PGHS learners are not in full attendance. Learners are at school on alternate days. Matric learners attend school every day. Grade 8 and 11 learners, attend on days 1,3,5,7, and 9. Grade 9 and 10 learners attend school on days 2,4,6,8 and 10. By 7:30, all learners must be at school. School closes at 14:00 (Monday- Thursday) and 13:00 (Friday). We plead with parents to make the necessary arrangements to fetch their daughters immediately after school. The school is fumigated and deep cleaned daily. To ensure the syllabus is completed and well taught, there are selected days where different grades (grade 10- 12) will have an extra lesson.
As from 2019, PGHS launched our school website. Information regarding school details, learner admission and important updates will be available on the website. Please check the website and YouTube channel regularly. WhatsApp groups have been created for learners and teachers. It is important for learners to be on these groups. Teachers will post information relating to subject content. As the staff, we are confident that we are on top of all curriculum needs and deadlines for completion of the syllabus.
